Nine Options for Fashionable Summer Walking Shoes

The perfect sneakers for summer walking. Avoid looking like a tourist in these comfortable walking shoes.

I am one of those people whose shopping goes in bursts. I won’t buy any of a certain item for a year or two, and then suddenly I’ll purchase a whole bunch of different options of the same things. Last spring it was flats for work, and I purchased about 3 different pairs within one month.

This year I’m looking at fun but practical sneakers. We have so many trips coming up where we’ll be doing lots and lots of walking. I don’t want to look like a total American tourist in athletic sneakers, but I also want to be comfortable exploring our vacation cities. I’ve been rocking a pair of black and basic Nikes for the past few years, but they are well loved and are just a tad too sporty for a casual and cool look.

I rounded up as many options as I could find for basic sneakers and tennis shoes that will offer support but look cool enough to wear around town.

DIY Shaker Jar

For shoes, I wear a lot of flats. They are comfortable, fun, and work-appropriate. However, when the weather gets warm, it can be a little yucky with bare, warm feet. I’ve started using a little dash of foot powder in my shoes, which is helping with keeping my feet sweat- and stink-free.

I want to keep my foot powder near my shoes, but I don’t really want the container out for all houseguests to see. This is why I made my own shaker jar.

Transforming White Sneakers

I have been on the lookout for new shoes and sneakers recently since many of my pairs are wearing thin. A couple weeks ago I spotted plain white tennis shoes in Target for less than $4, and decided that was a good enough deal. I planned on transforming them with fabric markers, and this weekend I was able to go through with my project.
