Normally when I make bunting to hang up, I get lazy and I only create one design. But, honestly, decorations always look better when strategically stacked or accessorized properly. I am one of those people who can never successfully carve a pumpkin face. I’ve dodged this sad fact by painting pumpkins for Halloween instead, but I was tired of the same old projects. This year I did something a little bit different and drilled holes for white Christmas lights. And it was fool proof!

You would really not believe the number of DIY projects we did for the wedding. Most of the crafting fell on my lap, but dear George tried to help where he could. And he was completely responsible for the giant Love letters we had out for our ceremony. In the end, this project almost got scratched from the list, but I’m really glad we worked on them.

This project definitely took a while, but each step is relatively straightforward.

I feel like I’ve missed out on the beginning part of summer. I just “woke up” and it’s mid-July! There’s so much more I want to do and celebrate while it’s still warm in New York. In the spirit of summer, I made this bright watermelon bunting.

Triangle pieces for bunting

To start, I cut triangle shapes out of thick red paper. Per usual, I designed the triangles on Photoshop and then printed cut guides to make everything easier. I try to cut off all the ink, and am mindful of which side I put on the front.
