Image Transfer Easter Eggs {with freezer paper}

Image transfer of photos onto Easter Eggs using freezer paper

Do you ever finish a project and you’re not sure if you love it or hate it? Honestly, that’s how I feel about these photo transfer eggs. They didn’t come out quite the way I wanted, but it’s a really cool effect for Easter eggs that I’ve never tried before. Let’s get down to it.

My original idea was to transfer photo images onto my eggs. So I hopped into Photoshop and copied over pictures of my family. I made each image no taller than 1.5 inches so it would fit easily onto an egg. I also deleted the background of each image using the quick selection tool, so the picture was just my main object.

Since this was a completely new concept for me, I also added a couple pictures of flowers, a bird, and some wide landscape scenes.

Valentine’s Day Gift of Time Together

The gift of date nights out -- a DIY Valentine's Day book that gives the gift of time

You would think that having a blog would make me prepare for holidays in advance, but apparently that isn’t the case. I just finished George’s Valentine’s Day present, and I figured I would share it with you, in case you need a last minute idea.

Since we’re just past Christmas, and George has a birthday coming up, I shied away from buying another physical item. We have too much stuff already, and I really just want to spend more time together doing fun things. We love to go out to eat, but it can become expensive very quickly (which is not so great for our budget!). I decided that for this Valentine’s Day I would give the gift of time together in the form of date nights out at restaurants.

Mini Wedding Cake Replica Ornament

Sometime during the haze surrounding wedding planning, I came across a woman who would re-create a miniature of your wedding cake, which you could use as an ornament or other decorative item. They are so cute, and a perfect way to keep a memory of something that doesn’t last (even though we have some of our wedding cake still frozen in the freezer—maybe I can convince George to eat it for our 6 month anniversary). However, this very talented woman is charging hundreds of dollars for her work. She was amazing, but I don’t have that kind of cash to spend. Plus, our cake was so super simple, it didn’t seem worth it. So I decided to give it a go myself.

Recently I was shopping for my holiday gift-wrap, which is honestly one of my Christmas season highlights. I have the habit of filling up my online shopping cart to the brim, and then later paring it down to be a more manageable price. Some things I feel are totally worth the cost, like glossy satin ribbon. Other things just don’t make the cut.

Falling Leaves Painted Mobile -- a fall-themed craft project with leaves

It seems like I’m finally ready to accept fall. And it’s a good thing because it’s officially autumn this week. I’ve been inspired by some painted leaf projects I’ve seen online and decided to put my own spin on things with this leaf mobile.

Collecting fall leaves for a craft project

First I gathered all different leaves from a local park. I looked for ones that were relatively flat, undamaged, and not too brittle. I shook off the excess dirt and brought them home to use in decorating.
