Let’s celebrate—we got our wedding photos back! I am so excited to finally be able to share with you some of the pictures from our wedding. Plus, this means I get to start Wedding Wednesdays back up!
So today I’m just going to “let ‘er rip” and share my favorite images that give a feel for the day.
If you don’t want to see dozens of wedding photos, now is the time to leave. If you like weddings, me, or love, keep on scrolling!
We got ready at a suite at the Hilton Garden Inn. To make things easier, I had the hair and makeup people come to us. They were phenomenal and so super nice.
Here I am goofing around and showing off my wedding binder. I had pages and pages of directions, timelines, inspiration photos, and contact phone numbers. I’m just a tad type-A.
My Mom had trouble zipping me into my dress. It seemed like she was getting a little nervous, but I kept calm and just tried to make my waist as tiny as possible. Of course she got it to work.
Oh my gosh, doesn’t George look so darling?
Next we were off to Indian Ladder Farm, our venue. We opted to do a first look…
We scheduled a lot of time for portraits before the wedding, which was great. We got to visit a lot of different spots and ended up with a lot of choices for photos.
Soon enough it was ceremony time. George and I walked in together, and I’m really glad. It was a really long walk and I would have been too nervous to go it alone. Even with George, I was a little anxious. I kept saying “I’m so nervous. Are you nervous? How come you’re not nervous?” as we walked up the hill. Eventually he tried to get me to stop talking because we were close enough that people could hear.
Our ceremony was very lighthearted. Two dear friends of mine did readings and we literally tied the knot! Then it was time for vows, which we crafted ourselves based off ones we found online. I still am not sure why the woman reads her side first, but I guess that’s just how it goes.
Our vows were:
My heart’s love for you knows no bounds.
I promise you that I will do everything I can to show you the depths of my love for you each and every day.
Even when we’re too tired.
And when things are hard.
Those feelings are fleeting, but my love for you is not.
I choose you to be no one other than yourself, loving what I know of you and trusting who you will become.
I love the moment we are in now, but I am also exited for all that is ahead for us.
I vow to soak it all in, to be present in our love and our life together.
And when I get distracted, I will be thankful you are there to remind me that the most important things in life are right in front of me
– the same way I vow to do that for you.
Thank you for marrying me. It is a thanks I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
I love you today. I love you always.
No wonder I needed a tissue during the vows!
After the vows, it was time to party!
We tried to keep the low-key, fun theme and had a beer truck with taps and dinner from a food truck.
I’ll share some of the decor details later, but all of the barn decorations were created by me and assembled by our families.
Here’s my sweet niece, the apple of my eye.
Our first dance was ridiculous. We did a choreographed dance to “Why do you let me stay here” by She and Him. Basically we tried to copy the dance from YouTube. It was a little bit of a disaster, and a lot of bit of fun. A couple friends took video of the first dance but I still can’t bring myself to watch. I feel like if I see it for myself, I’ll know how bad it was and just be embarrassed. For now I can just tell myself it was awesome, even though I’m sure it was a wreck.
We also opted to have a DIY instant photo booth. I’m not sure how many people ended up using it, but George and I got a couple good shots with our fun props.
That’s all for now. I’ll be sharing some more details over the next couple months on various DIY projects. If there’s anything you want to know more about, let me know!
